  • The 10:30 am class for grades 2-5 will emphasize fun, hands-on activities in class, with the majority of writing being finished at home.
  • The 12:30 pm class for grades 6-8 will emphasize discussion and writing in class, as well as additional writing at home.
  • For ALL students, I emphasize creativity, experimentation, exploration, and developing & sharing your unique "voice" on the page.

THE WRITERS WORKSHOP FOR KIDS

Join me for an interactive, supportive, & FUN workshop for kids.

WORKSHOP 1:

Grades 2 - 5: 10:30 - 11:30 am - CLASS FULL
Grades 6 - 8: 12:30 - 1:30 pm

  • Week 1: Merry Unbirthday: You are cordially invited to your unbirthday party. Don't be late for this very important date!
  • Week 2: Diary of a ______ Kid: Wimpy? Wild? Witty? Wise? Wicked? Wacky? Weird? Wrinkly? Wonderful!
  • Week 3: Recipe for Trouble: Get your main character into trouble! Add 1 cup of conflict and a dash of danger. Mix well.
  • Week 4: Welcome to Mystery Theater: When the lights go down, hold on to your hats, dear writers, because something sneaky is lurking among us.

  • Week 4: Stories that Go "Bump!" in the Night: Writing your own scary story.

  • Week 2: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! Now We Live in a Snow Globe: Writing a small tale about life on the inside.
  • Week 3: Hanging Out: Cliff hangers to keep your readers on the edge of their seats and hanging by a thread.
  • Week 4: Cloudy with a 100% Chance of Brainstorming: Writing a group story.

In this supportive, FUN environment, kids will explore a variety of writing styles & story elements.

Join me for The Writers Workshop for Kids, grades 2 & up.

Your children will explore & experiment with:

  • Idea generation through music, art, drama, literary works, brainstorming & collaboration
  • Creative & critical thinking
  • Prewriting, writing, sharing, revising, publishing
  • Different writing styles
  • Peer reviews & feedback
  • Learning there are no wrong words, only "write" words!
